Half the time you're trying to start a combo and you get interrupted/pinned between two characters, and the devs set the Punch and Jump button to do your "special" that rips out some of your life to an area attack to stop combos, so you'll end up using it accidentally. A LOT.The game has some unlockables, and it also was nice enough to let you go past the cutscenes, but overall, this game is pretty terrible. I thought it'd get better once the "skill tree" was unlocked... it didn't do anything. The Earth Guy (Fries, I think) has a dash attack that will little get him sent into the eemies, who recover quickly after, and will start beating on you.. 99Vidas bring us back to a classic game genre, the amazing beat ‘em up! Despite the fact that some of the new games of this genre come in a 3D platform, 99Vidas throw us back to the classical arcade. We have a good amount of characters to choose, and each has their own element, like fire, lightning, water and rock. The side scrolling movement, urban fights and pixel style sound like a good game to remember the classics. But it is not only a rescue of the past; it has its own features like upgrade purchases, characters to unlock and 3 types of game mode. 99Vidas is a great game for anyone who wants to remember the good old beat ‘em up.. A very uninspired arcade beat-em-up clone. Punch, jump kick, use life to attack both ways. If you've played double dragon, you've played this. I was hoping to see something new like combos, dodge rolls, blocking, etc but it's just so... bland.. A very repetitive and dry beat'em up. Music is also on the low-quality side, it just kind of drags on and isn't fun to listen to.
